Skincare Review: Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

Being a teenager and all, a lot of people - my age group especially - will have suffered from spots/pimples/acne now or at one point in our life. Personally, I had never had this problem until (I’ll try and explain this as quickly as possible) . . .

One Monday night when I reached to get my trusty Clean & Clear pimple control cleanser which I’ve used ever since I’d started cleansing (I will probably do another post about this cleanser as I am literally OBSESSED with this product). But it was empty. I’d never had any major breakouts before, maybe one or two pimples every now and again but they would soon go away. Throughout the week I used a different cleanser because I had to cleanse my face with something. Anyways, over the week my face started to break out until by the end of the week I’d never experienced so many spots in my life. That weekend I quickly got another Clean & Clear cleanser but after a week of doing nothing and my face continually to break out I was desperate for a solution. This was when my sister recommended the Clarins Exfoliating Cleanser. She said that within a week or two her spots had cleared up when she had her spotty days. So I was desperate to give this a go. I used this cleanser and the next morning I noticed a huge difference with pimples already starting to fade away, and within a week my face was as clear as it was before that Monday.

I think that if you are desperate for a solution for your breakouts then you should definitely give this a go. Compared to other expensive skincare brands this is cheap and it comes in a good-sized tube. I’ve also read very good reviews about this cleanser. I was considering getting the Clarins acne cleanser as I was suffering from a breakout as it seemed more relevant, but the reviews were’t as good. The packaging of this product is very simple and nice and it has a fresh citrusy smell to it.

The product is smooth with mini grains (as it’s a exfoliating cleanser) and these grains are small like sugar. Because it’s exfoliating it is recommended that you use this 2-3 times a week, and then to keep using this to maintain your clear skin for a while after. Make sure you don’t scrub too hard or don’t use this too much or it can damage your skin. You only need a little to go a long way. On every other day of the week, I still use my favourite cleanser - the Clean & Clear pimple control cleanser.

So here are my overall scores:

Price: 4.5/5
It is definitely worth it.

Effect: 5/5
Cleared up my spots within a week!

Packaging: 4.5/5
Nice and simple packaging

Scent: 4/5
Sweet and citrusy smell which is really fresh

Overall: 4.5/5
Love this product so so much. I definitely recommend this if you are breaking out.

Obviously this may not be to everyone’s liking as you may have tried this and not liked it or it may not have worked as well. But if you haven’t you should definitely give it a go as I don’t think that I could ever use another exfoliator again.
