January Favourites

This month was the summer holidays in New Zealand. Friends and (lots of) food basically sums up my January. Since I’ve had a lot more free time without school, I’ve got plenty of favourite things to share with you all this month.

CLOTHES STUFF
Beaded earrings - these beaded earrings from The Bread and Butter Letter are such a pretty pair which I love and have been wearing all the time.

Lipstick Nano heels - my favourite new shoes! These beautiful shoes called Nano are not high at all (I suck at wearing high heels) and as comfortable as heels can be.

Status Anxiety wallet - I treated myself to a new wallet from Status Anxiety because my old one was very worn and broken. I opted for Dakota in light grey and love it. There are plenty of card holders and pockets but it's still so slim, plus the design makes everything so easily accessible.

Playsuits - playsuits are essential in everybody's life. You look so put-together but your top and bottoms are both sorted. Plus, they're so much more comfortable than dresses.

Boyfriend jeans - recently I've been really liking boyfriend jeans instead of the usual skinny jeans. They look great with any top tucked in.

MAKE UP STUFF
OPI nail polish in Rosy Future - I like to call this my mermaid nail polish because it is the most beautiful, iridescent shade.

Benefit creaseless cream shadows - these are amazing! They're so creamy and just glides on your eyes. These work as the perfect eyeshadow base as well.

FOOD
Buddha bowl - recently my friend and I cooked up the most delicious vegan buddha bowl. This was made up of brown rice, capsicum, shiitake mushrooms, corn, eggplant, bok choy, tofu and topped with black sesame seeds, coriander and spring onion. YUM.

Trifle - with summer bbqs basically every weekend, I’ve become an expert in making trifle. Although it’s not actually hard to make (at all), it looks very impressive and tastes absolutely delicious.

Minted pea puree - I randomly made this to use as a sauce with roasted vegetables and it is so delicious! Mint and peas are amazing.

BOOKS + MAGAZINES
Breakfast at Tiffany’s - I bought this a while back but never really got round to reading it until now. What I enjoyed was how much more there was to Holly Golightly than the iconic pretty face of Audrey Hepburn, as I think she is actually quite a complex character.

FILMS
La La Land - this was a film I knew I’d love before I watched it. I thought that the songs and shots are just so beautiful and magical. And I mean, even in Emma Stone's Golden Globes acceptance speech she said, "this is a film for dreamers,” which is pretty fitting for this blog.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s - after reading the book I had to watch the movie, which I’ve been meaning to do for years. Despite it being different to the book, I loved it (and Audrey Hepburn is just so beautiful).

PLAYLIST
(credits to my sister which is where I find majority of the music I like haha)

Fresh Eyes - Andy Grammer
Fall in Love - Barcelona
Somebody Else - The 1975
Location - Khalid
Gooey - Glass Animals
Gold Snafu - Sticky Fingers
Electric Love - BØRNS
Spring has sprung - Skegss
Never Be Like You - Flume feat. Kai

WHAT TO DO
Cooking and baking - with a lot more time on my hands I’ve been cooking and baking a lot more which I’ve been really enjoying.

Playing the piano - until this month, I had not touched the piano for years. But after watching La La Land, I was inspired to learn the songs which I loved. I’m currently teaching myself ‘Mia & Sebastion’s theme’ from the film on the piano which has made me fall in love with playing the piano.

Painting - sit down, get out your paints, and just paint something.

Going to an Art Gallery - very recently me and mum went to the local Auckland Art Museum and I enjoyed it a lot. I want to visit more art galleries as I think that I appreciate art a lot more now than I did before.

xx
