How to be a Morning Person

Little ways to help you to become more of a morning person.

WEEKDAY

Sleep early.
I'm still working on this, but I can tell you that I know lack of sleep is the worst thing to go through throughout the day. Sleeping early makes it so much easier to wake up in the morning, and you'll definitely be in a better mood.

Make your bed.
This is something which may seem like a hassle, but honestly making your bed as a habit is a great start to the morning.

Have something to motivate you in the morning.
Whether that's a cup of coffee to look forward to, a nice warm shower, or a delicious breakfast, try aim for something each morning which will motivate you to get up in the morning.

Make time for a good breakfast.
This can be hard for a lot of people, but I actually have the quickest get-ready process (approximately 7 minutes), so I can have a solid 15 minutes for breakfast. A good hearty meal in winter like oats or whole grain toast and a refreshing meal in summer like a berry smoothie or muesli and yoghurt can make the biggest difference to your day.

WEEKEND

Set a nice alarm.
I have to admit, my alarm for the weekday is the worst, most loud and agitating noise Apple provides and I would do anything to set a more calm alarm. But, I am such a deep sleeper I simply will not wake up to any other sound. In the weekends, I can afford to sleep later, so I'll set a nice, calm alarm which will gently wake me up, but ensures that I haven't slept in till midday.

Exercise.
Morning runs are the best way to start the morning for me. It means you have started the day feeling good - not sleeping in and lazing around. Obviously not everyone loves runs, but any other exercise is great too.

Yoga.
Instead of exercise, yoga is also a great way to start off the day. It's such a peaceful thing to do and great for mindfulness.

Get ready to music.
While getting ready for the day, relax and listen to your favourite music. Honestly nothing is better. My morning playlist is below!

Go out for brunch.
More often than I should, I brunch with friends. When I think of weekends I think brunch. Try out a new cafe or just go down to your local, but be sure to brunch at least once in a while for an extra special breakfast in the weekend.

Make a delicious breakfast.
Alternatively to brunch, you can easily cook up brunch at home. An English breakfast, pancakes and french toast are my favourites. See what's in your pantry and make your own breakfast.

Regularly clean your room.
Another one of those annoying things to do but when you wake up in the morning to a nice and tidy room it is so much better than waking up to a room with clothes and stuff everywhere. I find that my mind feels much more at ease when my surroundings are in order.
