My Top 5: Summer Beauty Essentials

Currently in New Zealand, it’s still winter but the weather is already starting to warm up into Spring and it’s been very sunny recently. I know that some of you in the other parts of the world are in summer already, so I thought that this is one of the few chances I can do a seasonal related post that applies to everyone in the world. So these are my top spring/summer picks for what I’ll be loving in the summertime.

First up is the Clean & Clear essentials moisturiser with SPF. This is a perfect all rounder summer moisturiser. This has SPF 15 which is great for protecting you from the sun (I definitely recommend you to still add on extra face sunscreen though) and is oil-free so it helps prevent pimples or skin problems. Very gentle on the skin yet effective too.

Next is the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It is very light and fresh which is prefect for summer as you don’t want your skin to be very heavy and cakey. Super moisturising and feels so lightweight on your skin. This also has SPF in it too which again, is great if you’re going out in the sun.

Next is the Barry M Natural Glow Shadow and Blush Palette which to me is the nicest summery palette. Personally I think in the summer I wouldn’t wear that much makeup at all but for maybe going out or something like that this would be perfect. This palette has two matte shades (the white and light brown) and the rest are shimmery. You could go for a really soft natural look or use the darker shades for a more dramatic look. The blusher is slightly shimmery baby pink colour although there isn’t much pigmentation, but I don’t really use the blush anyways as I think this colour is unflattering on my skin tone. Also the formula of these eyeshadows are very unusual, almost like it’s a mix between a very dry eyeshadow and those Maybelline bouncy blushes if that makes sense but I quite like it. If you’re in a beauty store be sure to give it a swatch as you may not like the formula. Also, this palette is super affordable which is another bonus!

Next up is the NYC Smooth Skin Sunny Bronzer has been my absolute favourite bronzer at the moment. So affordable which is great but I just love how this is the perfect golden bronzy colour and the pigmentation is so so good. This is a matte bronzer which personally I like more (I prefer to leave the more shimmery/glowy face products to the blushes or highlighters) and so you can contour your face with this too. I have been obsessed with the whole contouring bronzing thing at the moment

Last but not least it’s the Daisy eau so fresh perfume which is an old favourite of mine - actually the very first perfume I’d ever owned. This screams Spring/Summer to me. This is a very light and fresh perfume which is good because I like to stick to the more heavy scents to the colder months. This scent is basically just straight-up floral. If you’re not too keen on floral scents then I wouldn’t recommend this to you. But if you are, when you’re in a beauty store be sure to give this a sniff as I love it a lot. A bit more pricey than the other products but maybe you could pop it onto your wish list.
