One of my favourite things to do is to discover cute little cafés hidden away. I’ve been to Best Ugly
Bagels once before, actually on my birthday last year but I’d never been back. Recently, I went with my family and family friends early in the morning to the new one opened in Newmarket and I’d forgotten how much I loved their bagels. These bagels are literally cooked fresh (you can even see them make the bagels) from their wood fired ovens and there are outside benches which is perfect for sunny days.
Food: 5/5
Literally the best bagels! Absolutely delicious and freshly made.
Menu: 4/5
Obviously there isn’t very much selection as this is just a bagel café but there is quite a large selection of bagels including ones I never thought of myself. There are also quite a few sandwich/cake options but personally I think I’d only go for the bagels as this is what they specialise in. They also have a great selection of organic drinks like cola or lemonade and hot drinks which compliment the bagels really nicely.
Seat Availability: 3/5
This is a very tiny café as most of the seating is outside. There are about 4 seats inside and the rest are outside. Great for summer but not so great for the winter time.
Atmosphere: 4/5
The cutest little vintage place! The bagels are wood fired by large brick stoves and there are cute chalkboard signs, vintage chairs and there is just has a really warm atmosphere.
Price: 4/5
Pretty expensive for bagels and definitely the portion size would not be enough if you’re really hungry but it is all organic and they are delicious!
If you are in New Zealand maybe you could pop by Best Ugly Bagels found on 90 Wellesley Street, Auckland and there is now a new one open in Newmarket at 3A York Street.
