Recipe: Cacao Energy Balls

When you crave a chocolatey and nutty mouthful, you need to make these cacao energy balls.

These are filled with nuts, seeds, dates and hemp protein powder which gives you loads of energy, plus the cacao makes these have a lovely chocolate taste. With no butter, sugar or any of the bad stuff this is super healthy but tastes like a delicious treat!

Energy balls:
 3/4 cup almonds
 1/2 cup cashews
 1/4 cup walnuts
 1 tbsp chia seeds
 1 tbsp flax seed
 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
 1 tbsp hemp protein powder
 1 cup dates
 1 tbsp coconut oil

Simply combine all ingredients except for the dates and coconut oil in a food processor until all nuts have been crushed. Then add in the dates and coconut oil and blend again, where this time it should have more of a a sticky consistency. If it’s still looking a bit too crumbly add in more dates. Roll them into balls (it can get quite messy but just firmly squeeze a small handful into a solid and then begin to mould into a ball) and refrigerate.

This is my favourite healthy snack I’ve discovered so far. Be sure to give it a try!
