Hello everyone! This year I thought I’d do a mini festive series called “Christmas Party” which will consist of tips, tricks and ideas for hosting the perfect Christmas party. Today’s post will be three very easy DIYs, perfect for making your home look even more festive!
Dried orange, rosemary and cinnamon garland
Supplies:
twine
sharp scissors
oranges
rosemary
cinnamon sticks
bay leaves
Firstly, to make your garland, you need to dry your oranges. Slice up your oranges into thin slices and spread evenly onto a lined baking tray. Pop it in the oven at a low temperature (about 100C) for around 2-3 hours. Once your oranges are done, they should be dry and hardened. Then cut a long piece of twine (however long you want your garland to be). Thread through your dried orange (use sharp scissors to poke a whole in the middle of the orange if there isn't one already), then tie a knot. You can thread or tie on other things as well, such as rosemary, cinnamon sticks and bay leaves.
Cinnamon candle
Supplies:
plain white candle
hot glue gun
twine
cinnamon sticks
holly, rosemary, or any other plants
First plug your hot glue gun in to heat it up. Then get your plain white candle and glue the cinnamon stick and a plant onto the side. Then add some twine to wrap around the candle. You can use different textures or colours of twine - design it to your liking!
Tassel garland
Supplies:
red tissue paper
white tissue paper
gold tissue paper
twine
sellotape
scissors
1. First of all, fold your piece of tissue paper downwards in half.
2. Fold your tissue paper in half widthwise (folding across) two times.
3. Now cut your fringe, making sure to leave space at the top.
4. Unfold once and cut the fringed paper in half.
5. Separate all the pieces. One piece will be twice as big as the other two pieces, so you need to cut it in half, leaving four pieces which are all the same size.
6. Now take one piece of fringed paper, open it up, and roll lengthwise.
7. Once you're done, twist the middle so it's tight.
8. Fold over so all tassels are hanging down and there is a loop on top. Secure with tape.
9. Repeat the steps above until you have as many tassels as you desire. Then get your twine and thread it through the loop of the tassel. Tie a knot each time to secure the tassel in place.
Happy crafting!
